Take each capsule with a full glass of water. Tamiflu can be taken with or without food. Taking Tamiflu with food may decrease stomach upset. Tamiflu is usually taken twice a day for 5 days. Follow your doctor's instructions. Treatment with Tamiflu should begin as soon as possible from the first appearance of flu symptoms. Take all of the Tamiflu that has been prescribed for you even if you begin to feel better. Your symptoms may start to improve before the infection is completely treated. You should also discuss the importance of a flu shot with your doctor.
Side Effects: Stop taking Tamiflu and seek emergency medical attention if you experience an allergic reaction (difficulty breathing; closing of your throat; swelling of your lips, tongue, or face; or hives). Other, less serious side effects may be more likely to occur. Continue to take Tamiflu and talk to your doctor if you experience nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea; abdominal pain; headache; dizziness; fatigue; insomnia; or cough or other respiratory symptoms. Side effects other than those listed here may also occur. Talk to your doctor about any side effect that seems unusual or that is especially bothersome.
Precautions:There are no restrictions on food, beverages, or activities while taking Tamiflu unless otherwise directed by your doctor.
